Building on the ISCC EU certification (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) obtained in early October, DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark can now independently issue the supplementary documentation, Proof of Compliance (PoC), directly to customers and partners. The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) supplied by the company has always been ISCC EU certified. What has changed is that DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark can now issue customer-specific documentation locally, the CEO emphasises.
“Today, more and more organisations are working in a structured and systematic way with climate targets and ESG reporting. That naturally increases the need for documentation that is both credible and recognised by regulators. With our recent ISCC EU certification, we can now issue PoC documentation locally, allowing us to support customers and partners even more directly as they work to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions from their own operations, business travel and air freight,” says Kasper Tranberg, CEO of DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark.
“As we enter the new year, I’m pleased to share this news with our customers and partners across aviation, private companies and the public sector. We know that many are currently finalising their ESG and sustainability reporting and planning new emissions-reduction initiatives for the year ahead,” he adds.

New customer documentation: Proof of Compliance (PoC)
Since 2021, DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark has supplied ISCC EU-certified (SAF). To date, the official sustainability documentation, Proof of Sustainability (PoS), which records the sustainability attributes of the SAF, has been issued by the company’s SAF partners and distributors for the total supplied volume and subsequently passed on to customers for use in their Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions accounting.
“With our own ISCC EU certification in place, we can now issue a PoC document directly to each customer for the exact volume of SAF they purchase, while transferring the sustainability attributes directly to the customer. In simple terms, this means that customers now own the documentation themselves,” explains Kasper Tranberg, CEO of DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark.
“This makes the documentation both more relevant and easier for our customers to work with, while also being regulator-approved and usable in specific schemes such as the EU ETS. Just like with the original PoS document that the PoC builds on, customers can quickly see how much CO₂ and GHG reduction they can claim. These figures and sustainability attributes can then be easily integrated into internal climate accounts and reports, or used to demonstrate concrete results for Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions to employees, customers, investors, authorities and other relevant stakeholders,” he adds.
A certification aligned with EU regulation
“ISCC EU was a natural place for us to start, especially because the scheme is recognised by both the European Commission and the UK. As an EU Member State, it is the certification scheme that best reflects the current requirements of the EU Renewable Energy Directive, RED II and RED III, as well as ReFuelEU Aviation and the documentation requirements under the EU ETS. That makes it a framework we trust and can work within,” says Dali Dudic, Finance & Data Analytics Manager at DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark, who led the certification process.

ISCC EU Certification as part of the growing industry reporting requirements
Depending on the feedstock and production pathways, neat SAF can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80% over the fuel’s full life cycle compared with conventional fossil jet fuel. When SAF is certified and accompanied by a Proof of Sustainability (PoS) or Proof of Compliance (PoC), these reductions can be directly reflected in customers’ climate accounts.
“We’re seeing a clear development where both private companies and public-sector organisations are taking a more structured approach to measuring and reducing aviation-related emissions. For some, this is driven by regulatory requirements like ReFuelEU Aviation and the EU ETS, while for others it comes from voluntary reduction targets and commitments, such as those under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi),” says Kasper Tranberg.
“Whether it’s flight operations, employee business travel, or air freight, ISCC EU documentation provides a solid foundation for reporting. By issuing PoC documentation locally and directly to each customer, we can support them more concretely in their decarbonization efforts. At the same time, the ISCC EU certification reflects our focus on staying ahead of the growing climate and ESG reporting requirements across the industry,” Kasper Tranberg concludes.
